will convex be a good fit for a stoma that likes to dip in then come back out on its own?

the bags I used with the end ileostomy kept leaking with the loop.
I switched to convatec two piece natura mouldable and they have worked well.
my stoma is nicely spouted now with this system

wonder if i can get a sample of this from them.
this is the one I use.
im not sure how it works in the US, but I would be surprised if they wouldn't send you a few samples
I guess these things are trial and error.
I vouch for ConvaTec products too.
During the last ten years I've used nearly every stoma brand on the market and in my opinion nothing compares to the quality and options available from ConvaTec.
Intially my end illeostomy was very close to my skin and not protruding at all, thus no dip, so a convex wafer was recommended.
Over the years my Stoma changed, it kind of grew and began to protrude, on most occasions it would protrude beyond the wafer by at least half an inch, yet I still use the convex wafer.
Initially, whilist using the ConvaTec products I've only experienced leakage via the ineffective charcoal filter, which stained many a shirt, so much so I stopped wearing light coloured shirts, that is, till I discovered that ConvaTec pouches are available without the filter.
After the creation of my loop illeostomy, the Hospital provided the Holister Stoma appliances, which are by far one of the worst stoma products I've ever used, they leaked constantly, whether being a one piece or two piece appliance, yet I persevered as I didn't want to go against the opinion of my Stoma Nurse, who insisted that the leakage was due to the output of the Stoma and was part of the course.
When a delivery of the Holister products failed to arrive, it was a huge relief to revert to the ConvaTec product and since, I've not experience any leakage what so ever.
Since the creation of my loop illeostomy, now I have a dip around my Stoma, so rather than use the filler paste which stings when applied, I use ConvaTec Stomahesive seals:

I also use a Salts Stoma Collar:
http://www.salts.co.uk/Our-Pro...spx?ProductID=PROD20
The collar helps prevents the stoma output from leaking on to skin and under the wafer, although such products may not be available in the US.
I also suggest you use ilex protectorant paste
https://www.ilexhealthproducts.com/usd/
This paste acts as a barrier and prevents the bile acid from eroding the skin.
I currenty use a ConvaTec Synergy self adhesive, convex two piece appliance, without filter; such a product is also available with a plastic coupling rather than self adhesive.
I've used such products for years with the end ileostomy and also with the loop ileostomy and without any leakage.
Hello! I believe your surgery is today? Here's to it going perfectly! keep us posted when you can. :-)
I have a loop ileo and Convatec has been a miserable failure. All bags coming off at night or generally less than 24 hr. The flange is made out of a paper like substance with no flexibility or grip. Hollister fabric flanges are far better for me. Convex is totally worth trying but it may be harder to use a barrier ring. Hollister has convex options too. Best of luck
Original poster has had takedown surgery now, so won't need Holister or Convatec products if all goes to plan; same for myself too.
During my time with the End Ileostomy I've used the ConvaTec Esteem Synergy two piece system and I've never experience the flange/wafer breaking away from the skin or any other leakage issues.
During day to day activities, not once have I experience significant issues whilst using the ConvaTec products other than very minor leakage from the bag, which was easily resolved.
During the early stages of life with a Stoma; discovering the ConvaTec Esteem Synergy made my acceptance of the Stoma all the more bearable.
