Had a scope today and the pouch looks better than the last in November but I am so much sicker? Had ac diff test three weeks ago. Negative, and am repeating it again. This constant d has been 10 days although the augmentum has finally stopped it. I don't think Noro virus would last this long?
Having more tests to see if I might have CD. Oh what fun.
My GI said that although I have had my bad share of this pouch, 14 years, she is not recommending removing it! Only mild pouchitis.

alleykat .hi.. problem was as i suspected if not c-diff you needed to change your antibiotic..xifaxin probably stopped working for you and you needed to address the mild pouchitis with new one... our bodies just start resisting same antibiotic...fyi ..to me mild moderate etc pouchitis when we have it ..it seems bad!! mine was mild but try telling that to me when i am having a bad time of it!!!

if antibiotic not working within few days its probably time to change it..

glad new antibiotic has helped your situation..at least for now..i kind of accept pouch will always need attention..we both sound like we are pretty much in same boat..hope like me you are continuing diet as i believe it helps.. we might be worse and at best it might keep us needing antibiotics less often or less dosage..

as to why,why ,why its as dr. shen said to me ..people who have issues after surgery like us(chronic pouchitis)
may still have a form of ibd or other genetic factors..pouch operation got us out of our pickle at time but it just is not complete answer for us....

my present goal is to try to figure out the right program between antibiotics and diet that might keep me more consistent at least..

its going to be more trial and error..

look at bright side your pouch looks better..possibly diet has helped in that regard....mild vs. very bad pouch, periods of time on diet you were off antibiotics and so on..and as to removal my doc and apparently yours do not see us getting rid of it and if i were to guess you like me are hardly ready to rid of it ourselves..truthfully the thought of another operation of the sort i had puts chills throughout my body..

and something jan said to me recently.."accepting" we did not get the magic bullet,.and working on managing the worst less manageable symptoms..
