Dr Shen never does biopsies on my pouchoscopies? Is this due to my low grade dysplasia being only in the colon and not the rectum? always wondered and I believe I have asked in the past but cant remember why he never did
Risk is low, also biopsy is a very small specific test with varying degrees of accuracy on itself.
Inshort there needs to be concern area to biopsy because the pouch is a relatively massive place (compared to a biopsy sample). We are talking spec of sand on a beach.
Sometimes docs still random test for 'normal mucosa' but people with JPouch aren't necessarily expected to have normal mucosa.
yes I have read a lot on here and from my doc that cancer of the jpouch is very low risk. and also since I had a mucousectomy the chances are even lower in the cuff. I have my annual pouchoscopy in July so I will ask Shen again about it.
