Hello, everyone.  If you are taking a digestive enzyme to help decrease gas, when do you take it — before, during, or after a meal? Do you take an enzyme with every meal, or just once a day? Please let me know what has worked for you. I know everyone is different, but I’m curious what works for you.

I take a digestive enzyme before meals. I use Enzymedica digest gold with ATP - so I only take one before each meal, especially one with vegetables or other items that cause me gas issues. This brand is expensive, but has worked really well for me. Hope this helps

Does this help with beans and cruciferous veggies?  Also peppers?  What about the allergens like milk, wheat and eggs?  Do you eat all that stuff?

I usually take it before I eat, I’ve also taken it after I eat. I have the ultra extra strength so I don’t take them with every meal. Makes me feel too full. I do usually take 2-4 a day

This post inspired me to try enzymes and I can’t believe how helpful they are.  Less gas, less burning and just all around feeling better.  Seems way better than probiotics which can for some reason give me headaches …

Hi Rayanna!  Which foods do you have trouble with and which kind of Flora enzymes did you buy?  There are many types, it looks like!

I bought their Daily Maintenance Enzymes. It has a number in the bottom right corner 80034755.  
I have trouble with a lot of veggies and dairy.  When I take the enzyme first I have less gas and less urgency. My GI only talks of probiotics, never enzymes.  
I’ve only taken one a day before lunch so far. Hope it keeps working, it’s been 10 years and seems like the learning never ends.
