what is the policy for this forum regarding answering questions

There is a moderator but as far as I know she isn't paid for her efforts. She (Jan Dollar) is a RN and is highly qualified and does a good job at it, but she isn't here 24/7 and it isn't really the job of a moderator to answer every question that is posted.  If you are looking for a job and want to get paid for it I think it's not likely to happen here since this site is run primarily on donations and the hard work and efforts of the administrator Bill.  

But if you are interested in helping regardless of compensation send Jan/Bill a private message via the dialogue box.

Not sure, but as an open forum, we sort of count on each other to help, reply and hold each others' hands...it is purely thanks to the generosity of each and everyone of us who are willing to share their personal experiences of success or failure with their illnesses that keep us going...(and of course our fearless Leader Bill and his Sage Councilor Jan!)

The policy seems to be (roughly): answer the question if you can help, based on your experience, knowledge, or kindness. We don't have all of the answers here, so it's best if we don't pretend we do.

Thanks - yes, I sure know we don't have all the answers.  I didn't mean to pretend I had them.  Just wanted to offer support. I'll check myself in the future.

I didn't mean to imply I wanted to get paid.  I was just trying to help. Thanks to all for your answers.  As I said, new to the forum...just learning the ropes.

You can certainly help by posting answers to those thread questions if you have input on the question. I sometimes don't reply if the topic is something I know nothing about. Some posts seek information and some seek support from other members. On the info requests unless I can contribute something meaningful I don't reply. But anyway welcome to our group and please feel free to contribute in any way you can.

Angie, I always feel badly when someone posts something and I don't feel qualified to respond. I think it's wonderful that you saw a need, you were willing to fill it and you reached out to find out how.  :-)

Angie, I wasn't critiquing your contributions when I said we don't pretend we have all the answers - I'm sorry it seemed that way to you.

Yep, I am a moderator, but I don't answer every question or even monitor every post. We all volunteer our time and support here, helping each other the best we can. Anyone who is a registered member is free to reply to any post. You don't need to be a moderator for that.

Any help you can provide is welcome!

Thanks to all.  I think this group is wonderful and I think I touched a nerve - I am new and just didn't quite know how it worked.  I think it's great and no, I don't think we must reply about things we don't know anything about.  I'm one of those nutty people who thinks I can help way more than I actually can.  Character flaw of which I'm well aware.  Again, thanks to all for replies and now I know how it works and I won't worry if people get no replies.  You have all been very kind to a new person and I appreciate it!

I don't like it either when someone gets no replies to their questions, but sometimes by the time I get a chance to look at the forums, 50 new posts go up and I can't look at them all. But, if it is truly urgent, they need some face time with their doctor, not waiting for an answer here. Holiday weekends can be the worst, as regular members are off with families and not online.

Yes - I agree - if truly urgent, they will go to ER or dr.  I can only imagine the amount of traffic you've watched come and go through here for years.  I will try to do my part and answer when I think I can help someone - or at least make them feel heard and less alone.  I am certain you have given all this everything you've got and then some!  I appreciate your kindness and dedication  - I saw this forum years ago - and I read a few threads - and at that time I was so busy working.....I just never had the time to read much.  After I finally stopped working I still didn't get on here for 7 years!  I can't believe I didn't - the thing I like the best is it helps you feel less alone.  I don't do Facebook and have not been a fan of social media - but my eyes are a bit more opened as I see how helpful this site is to thousands.   thnx
