I used to lead a very social life where I would drink alcohol multiple times a week. Post surgeries I'm attempting to rejoin my social world and am frustrated with my bodies reaction to alcohol. Sometimes I notice very little impact, perhaps an extra bm over a 5/6 period, or my normal number just more watery. Othertimes, like last night, I'll be running in and out of the bathroom hourly passing what feels like acid. I've tried experimenting with different types of alcohol, typically I enjoy beer the most though. I try and use as many preventive measures as possible. I'm always jacked up on fiber and have 4x immodium before I drink.

Any idea what causes us issues? Is it the quantity of liquid we drink (has to come out somewhere) or is it more that the alcohol stimulates the gut, forcing more output?

I need to crack this puzzle ASAP :>

I can't answer your question and don't really know who can. All I know is that for some people alcohol will slow things down (like dgloria5) while for others (like myself) it causes increased frequency and watery movements. Doesn't seem to matter what kind of beverage.

I was never much of a drinker before, but now I rarely drink at all. When I do drink, I consume very small amounts.

Let us know if you crack that puzzle.
I don't drink much alcohol, but I am able to drink darker ales like Guinness without any problems. On the other hand, lighter beers seem to increase my frequency, as does wine (white - I don't drink red). Maybe it's true that Guinness is actually good for you. *LOL*

Seriously, though, alcohol can have a dehydrating effect, so that might contribute to some of the problems you are experiencing.
