if just before takedown, the mri/pouchagram shows no leaks, why later on would someone develop a sinus/fistual? is it usually because there was actually a tiny leak pre takedwon that wasn't detected or does a leak form later at the anastomosis site?

There are so many reasons. One could be from disease. They can develop anytime.
so a tiny leak pre takedown that heals shouldn't necessarily lead to complications further down the line?
Can anyone give several reason for small sinusses to appear and how are they actually treated

also, so many different ways. Antibiotic, surgery, try and let it heal on its own.

As a patient I feel like I am at the mercy of the doctors. I think anywhere from 3-6 months.

I agree with you on being at the mercy of doctors.I have gotten more answwers and guidnace from this forum than from any MD I see .I wonder some times what are they taught , what they read what they truly know.
