So last friday I started having issues with my eyes, it has progressively gotten worse to the point that I am having double/blurred vision. I can't focus from near to far without it feeling like things are spinning. Even when sitting still my eyes dart back and forth rapidly. No headaches, BP is 120/80, reflexes are normal, stress and sleep levels are normal. It's bad enough that I can't work. Has anyone had this issue or a similar one? I have an opthamologist appt on friday.

This sounds like nystagmus. It can have several causes, but if you are experiencing vertigo that could be one reason.
Are you taking any meds? You do need to have this evaluated ASAP so it's good you have the ophthalmology appointment. You may need to see a neurologist as well.

Gee, if my eyes were jumping around like that, I'd have a tough time waiting days for an appointment, and would push for an urgent, same-day appointment.
Like Spooky said, many causes for this, and some can be dangerous.

Spooky you are correct on the nystagmus the nurse I saw yesterday said I have slight nystagmus but said I need to see an optometrist, optometrist said I need to see opthamolgist, they'll probably say I need to see a neurologist..It has been diffucult just waiting, I didn't sleep well last night either. I do take lomotil ocassionally, but not really within the last week.
Yes, waiting is the hardest part. The difficult is the not knowing, at least for me. Usually once I know what something is, for better or worse, I fret less.
Keep us posted on what this turns out to be. I'd be curious.

Had MRI, won't know until monday. Double vision got worse then in a split second corrected but at the same time my lips went numb, this lasted about 5 mins. then back to twitching eyes and bad headache. Ice packs seem to help for now.
Best of luck--I know it must be hard waiting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that it is nothing serious. My work involves reviewing disability claims. We had a woman once who had nystagmus secondary from vertigo due to a severe inner ear infection/fluid build up. She had no ear pain--just headache, dizziness and the nystagmus, so we first sent her to a neurologist, then an ophthalmologist, then finally the ENT who confirmed the diagnosis, which was successfully treated. So it was a relatively simple problem but caused a number of serious symptoms--certainly nobody was thinking ear infection. I hope your situation turns out to be similarly easy to remedy!
The MRI came back negative...which is positive..right? I have a new symptom. Last night my wife made spaghetti, I asked her to use sea salt instead of Kosher, and it was horribly salty.
and the sauce tasted off. I didn't want to start anything so I kept my mouth shut. This morning I had a strawberry toaster strudel with icing, and it was salty not at all sweet. I tried a rice krispy treat...salty, so far everything I expect to be sweet is overly salty.
Current symptoms: twitching eyes, double vision, headache, vertigo, lack of sweet taste/ lots of salt taste.

Hi Chris,
Good that the MRI was negative, but sorry you still don't have any answers. Was there any mention of a neurology referral? That is where I'd want to be headed next.
Hang in there, and do keep us posted.

Yeah, that's next just not sure when.
I think you need to call tomorrow and tell them about this new symptom. It seems that new neurological symptoms keep cropping up,and I don't like the implications, even if your MRI was good. I would push for an urgent referral if I were you.

First of all,I am feeling much better Neurologist couldn't find anything wrong. I was pretty distraught. I was watching a tv show on lead and it was talking about how it gets absorbed into the body (by mimicking zinc) and it started to list symtoms I was having. I work with lead quite frequently! I started researching Zinc Deficiency. Well the zinc deficiency wasn't due to lead but FIBER supplements and gastrointestinal absorption. So I have limited my fiber intake, and increased my zinc (not too much though) and symptoms are going away. links to info:

Glad things checked out with the neurologist! Sometimes weird stuff just happens and it is just a blip, but with your symptoms piling up, it was worth investigating. You never know if these things are a "mini-stroke" or just nothing.
Those sorts of deficiencies are pretty rare, but certainly possible. Watching TV and reading on the internet can be dangerous and make you lose a lot of sleep!
