Hi, I am about 18 years since j-pouch surgery and doing well, but I have been having this weird feeling off and on right in my center abdomen below my sternum. The best description I can give is that it feels like fetal movement. If you are male or have not been pregnant you won't know what I mean but it doesn't hurt, it's just incredibly annoying since I am not pregnant and I don't know what's up. Could this be an adhesion thing? I had adhesion removal surgery in '07, but that was preceded by discomfort, more discomfort, and then MAJOR PAIN. There is no gurgling with this, but it does come and go sort of like a cramp. Anyone ever experience this? Thanks!!

The area you describe is the epigastric region (the stomach). So, what you are feeling is stomach movement. Sure, it is natural for the stomach to move, but if it is hyperactive, perhaps you are developing gastritis, ulcer, hiatal hernia, etc. But, since you have no pain, it is what they call "subclinical." That means that if they did an upper endoscopy, they might find some gastric irritation, even though you are not experiencing pain or heartburn.

Of course, it could be adhesions that are the reason you are aware of this increased movement. See if you can associate it with meals, or a particular type of meal, or even an empty stomach.

I get the "flutters" from time to time in various areas of my abdomen and I assume that it is just "stuff" moving through. Since I am well past menopause and had a tubal ligation 15 years ago, I KNOW I cannot be preggo!
