There are only around 24 Surgeons in the whole US that do Kock Pouches/BCIR........OMG!!!!!!! I have got to do something! They are aging and not all are training younger surgeons as this is a very hard surgery to learn and have expertise in. I need J-pouchers and KPouchers to get on the bandwagon and be an Advocate for this much needed surgery. J-pouchers, you may one day want to go to the KP. Please help us!

Please just mention the Kock Pouch to your surgeons as it is a very good surgery with lots of us out there. We want the surgeons to keep teaching this procedure to keep it going. It is a wonderful surgery, we don't want to see it die out....and leave us out in the cold. Thank you!

The Quality Life Association’s mission is to support those with continent ostomies and provide information about those procedures to prospective patients and the medical community. I recommend those who have interest in these procedures visit the QLA website: www.qla-ostomy.org and consider becoming a member. Health Corporation of America (HCA) recently acquired Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL (which has one of the two BCIR programs in the U.S.A), and it is my understanding that they will be supporting the training of surgeons in the BCIR procedure.
