Hi, I live off grid in Spain & harvest rainwater that comes off the roof & first floor terraces into an underground tank. It's then pumped to a header tank thru a particle filter & then into the house thru another particle filter. I recently bought a locally made water filter that slowly drips thru sand, carbon, granite & anfora mineral. I have a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter that reads 70 before filtration & 85 after (500 being a safe guideline).

I believe that it lacks essential minerals for re hydration you'd get from bottled water, indeed a TDS test on this shows 260. Furthermore the taste is flat & takes time to get used to. I've read about adding unrefined sea salt to water to boost the mineral content but ??

What do you think?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Gee, you could just eat a varied diet and not limit your salt, or even just take a multivitamin with trace minerals added. If you think adding the sea salt to your water tastes good, then I'd say go ahead. Otherwise, I would not bother. Easier (and tastier) to just use that salt on your food.

Your efforts really make me appreciate my city tap water!

Unrefined seawater? Not sure what that means exactly...it would need to be sterilized more than just filtered. There are a lot of different chemicals and other toxins in seawater...so I would be very careful. Our guts a very fragile and need babying so just make sure that you are not adding unknown bacteria or other nasties to your guts.

I would also have my drinking water tested regulary (there are very cheap strip tests that you can buy in the pharmacy or order online...Worth the investment)
