A colon and rectal surgeon whose clinical focus includes colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, fecal incontinence and anorectal disorders, Dr. Efron joins Johns Hopkins Medicine from the Mayo Clinic.

He is an expert in minimally invasive and robotic procedures and colostomy-sparing procedures, such as ileal pouch anal anastomosis.

Can you tell me about your experience with Dr. Efron? I called his practice before you emailed and set up a consultation with his partner Dr. Gearhart. Did you work with her at all?

I had my surgery with Dr. Marohn at Johns Hopkins. Excellent bedside manners, I had some complications but don't think it was his fault, so I would recommend him. Good luck!

I had my Jpouch surgery in NYC (where I am from). I only saw Dr. Efron for follow-up scopes. Johns Hopkins is one of he best hospitals in the world so you are under great care. I saw Susan Geaharts reputation and she has great training as well. Maybe make a phone call into the office and see if the nurse can tell you information as to which Dr. has the most Jpouch experience?

I had my J Pouch surgeries with Dr. Elizabeth C. Wick. She is a wonderful surgeon and doctor. She works along with Dr's Gearheart and Efron at Johns Hopkins. I am very happy with my J Pouch.
