Okay so I've been taking VSL#3 for a couple days now and have already noticed a difference in bowel movements, consistency, and pressure. My bowel movements have been pretty well formed (FYI I stopped my citrucel 3 times a day during this experiment). I also noticed I am not going to the bathroom as frequently throughout the day (4-5 times the most and 0 in the middle of the night) and I have been eating more than normal lately. I also noticed I don't feel that uncomfortable pressure. The first day I took it I had a lot of stomach pain. Today I had none. I would honestly suggest trying this prosuct for those that want to try and get back to that more "normal" feeling. I will report back in another couple days. If you have had your own positive experiences with this let me know.

Do you get it from a prescription from your GI or surgeon? I have been on probiotics (chewable) over the counter and I am wondering if I would be better off with VSL#3. My takedown was April 30, 2012 and still waking up at least 2 to 3 times a night! Can not seem to get a grip on this at all! Will try anything!

dgtracy--my surgeon started me on VSL3 about 4-5 months after my reversal (in nov.) after being on and off antibiotics for pouchitis. Unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover it but, if I continue to do well, i'll just have to deal with the additional cost. between the VSL3 and the 2 immodium I take daily (one in the morning before work and the other before bed) my bathroom trips are also down to about 4-5 during the day and usually 0 at night. I guess I've been pretty fortunate.
