Lots of folks here get insurance coverage for VSL #3 DS (only the DS - double-strength - prescription-only version ever gets insurance coverage). OTOH, lots of folks here get denied by their insurer. I was denied, but fought with them for about a year, and they cover if for now.
I was prescribed the VSL DS and the insurance would not cover it because they consider it a "medical Food" $300 for a 30 day supply. The Doctor said he would write that it's medically necessary but turned out I did not have pouchitis at the time. So I dropped the idea but should I need it I will fight as hard as I can. My insurance is Anthem Blue Cross for State workers so its usually very good with coverage. Judy K
Interesting Judy, I also have Anthem Blue Cross though not for State workers so maybe different. $300, och. I'll definitely put up a fight. Will let you know how I make out. Thanks for the input.
Exactly, I was supposed to take it 2x a day, not 4. If the need arises I will look to you for tips on how to fight the insurance. Life is hard enough without putting up with such BS!! Judy K
