Dear all,
As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm effectively 3 weeks since I started using my pouch. I had some serious surgical complications, but in general my pouch I think is working relatively well only 3 weels in. I have well formed stools without taking fiber/drugs, no butt burn (bidet), and frequency around 7-9 per day. I can eat most things, except with too much fat I get diahrea.
I haven't been able to find any reports on here of how much volume your bowel movements should have. I have measured mine and they are at most only a little more than 100mL (excluding gas). I've read some medical literature that said a good pouch should have a volume of 300-400mL. I know the pouch should stretch over time, but I'm concerned I have so many adhesions (from an anastomic leak) that it may prevent the pouch from growing/stretching. I do try to "hold it", but there is a limit to how much you can do.
Do any of you know about how much you void? And long it took for you to get to that volume?
Also, since I have well formed stools, is there any benefit to taking fiber? In my case I think it would only increase volume, which would be counterproductive.
Thanks
