Hi everybody!! I am exactly one year out from my first j-pouch surgery and 9 months post takedown. Until a few days ago, everything has been great, with only one bout of pouchitis about 3 months post takedown. I was originally diagnosed with UC. A few days ago I started having burning in my upper abdomen and around my ribs, worse after I eat and at night, and pain in my back (similar to when I went in the hospital before my surgery for the ulcers in my colon), and nasuea, loss of appetite, and loose stools(no blood though). I went to get blood drawn today for labs, started on cipro, and have an appointment on Tuesday with my GI doc... The pain is getting a lot worse and I'm not sure what to do. At first I thought maybe it was a bug but now I'm starting to fear ulcer in my upper GI system. I'm scared. Do you think this could be Crohn's? If it is an ulcer, could there be any other explanation besides crohns? And how do they treat it? Sorry for the load of questions, just a bit concerned!

The most common causes of the symptoms you describe are gastritis with or without ulcer or gallbladder troubles. That said, I would have sworn I had a hot gallbladder, with all my adominal pain and cramping after every meal. There was also a lot of gas and diarrhea. Turns out I just had severe pouchitis. Go figure...
