UTI's with a pouch

I have only had two periods since my take down surgery. With both periods afterward I had UTIs. Is this common and is there anything I can do to prevent getting one!?!
Confused and nervous about what will happen next month!

Are you using tampons by any chance? I wonder if perhaps the string is getting soiled during BMs and that is transferring bacteria to your urinary tract... I don't know, just a random theory!

You could also try taking cranberry extract capsules on a daily basis in an attempt to prevent the UTI's, along with lots of water.
