Hola everyone!

I'm enjoying the new look to our beautiful little community, it's growing up just as we all are!

I was curious to know what some of the symptoms everyone experiences after eating or drinking something that their bodies don't agree with. I had light beer (haven't drank in quite a while) two nights in a row along with beans one of those nights. I'm regretting it all, right about now. Sore bum, more trips to the bathroom. The first night after the beer, I was just mildly gassy, easy to deal with but after the 2nd day and even today (3rd day) I'm still suffering. This brings me to another question I just thought of. How long do your symptoms usually last?

Thanks everyone! Hope all is well

Hi all,

when ingesting a food or beverage that does not agree with you the symptoms can vary but may include: gas, bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or some combination of these.  food allergies may cause hives, itching, somnolence too.  to discover which food or beverage it is, it's always recommended you have a food diary.    nice to be back here by the mass email mistakenly sent out.  had surgery in 2001 (wow) and just came back after a long absence. im a physician assistant and wrote a book on colitis self published called "this too shall pass" and it did....i swear.

My symptoms are generally limited to severe butt burn and more frequent need to empty my j-pouch.  I almost always know which foods will bring this on and most of the time I choose to indulge rather than to avoid those foods.  I know that this, too, shall pass.  For me the longest period of discomfort is about one day.  I make use of applying a barrier cream liberally during that time.  Typically, I don't even use one anymore.  My j-pouch is over 10 years old I by now I know it quite well.  Hang in there!  Early on, what doesn't work one day may be just fine the next!
