Traveling to the United Arab Emirates

I’ve had my Jpouch for eight years now and I’m doing great. I do take six to eight generic Lomotil per day. I plan to visit the UAE in January. They do not allow Lomotil, generic or otherwise, to be brought into the country unless I jump through lots of hoops, or so it appears from the embassy web page. I have several questions: has anyone gone to the UAE with Lomotil, and did you have any issues bringing it in? Also, would it be advisable for me to go off Lomotil, and if so, how should I go about this?

It’s worth a call to the embassy to see if the quantity you would need might be easily accommodated. If you do plan to stop Lomotil, stop it well before you leave while there’s time to asses your results and consider options. Is Immodium permitted, for example?
