I will  be touring in Eastern Europe for 2 weeks very soon and am anticipating increase in my typical symptoms of anal/rectal butt burn/itching with all the walking and limited availability of washroom facilities.  Though I use Hydrocortisone Acetate Pramoxine HCI cream as directed 4 X daily (as needed) under the present circumstances I know I will need sonething else in addition. Any suggestions? Would a suppository like casasa help? I am taking Levaquin anitbiotic 500 mg daily with me should my pouchitis flare which it usually does when I travel even briefly  but I dont think that will be enough help with the burn/ itch of inside the butt. I  appreciate any tips! Thanks!

It’s been a number of years since I have traveled in Eastern Europe, so perhaps there have been improvements in public restrooms since then.  I found toilet paper to be lacking in many restrooms and of poor quality in others (think “Wall Street Journal")..  I suggest that you have a sufficient amount of the good TP with you at all times.  If you are prone to leakage, absorbent pads are handy to have.   I hope you have a great and uneventful trip!

Tons of things have changed in the last 20yrs (the iron curtain fell along with the Berlin wall...Since then they have discovered North American toilets & toilet paper...in some countries but not all...pack a few rolls but don't fill your whole suitcase)

They have a lot of good zinc oxide creams here...if in doubt go to the Baby section of a local grocery store for good quality butt creams.

Keep a supply of your absolutes like meds and suppositories and carry some sort of motion sickness med that can be used to slow down your guts in case of urgency but don't sweat it too much...and have fun!

Make sure you have lots of coins/local currency.  Most/all of the toilets are pay toilets.  I don't remember having any issues with their tp, but take some along, it couldn't hurt.  My surgeon recommended Critic-Aid Clear AF antifungal ointment.  It's called Clear Moisture Barrier With Antifungal.  I ordered it from sweenstore.com.

Also do not eat spicy food.

Have a great time.  I went to Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg last fall.  Beautiful cities!

Maybe instead of taking TP with, it might work out better if you took wipes, like baby wipes with you.  There are travel sizes that would fit into a pocket, purse etc.  Dab with TP first and then use them.  I like the kind that the labs supply when giving urine samples.  Single use wipes that are also good for cleaning of cuts, scrapes  etc.  I usually take some extra wipes with me from the lab's bathroom.  I'm going to look them up to see if available from Amazon.com or elsewhere as they are my favorite to carry in my purse.  (Then I won't feel like a thief and I will have an ample supply.)

Happy travels!  Europe is #1 on my bucket list. Unfortunately my j-pouch has different ideas.
