In the past I’ve had high grade dysplasia at the top of some sampled polyps

I’m  trying to buy more time before my encounter w total gastrectomy. And I’m posting in general discussion to get some opinions because the fap forum is hardly active or gets viewed rarely

I’ve had endoscopy at every 3 month intervals and August15  before nov14  endoscopy did not show dysplasia low grade but Nov 14 endoscopy revealed it as per what my gi sampled in the stomach

not having a colon and getting a total gastrectomy will leave me with dumping syndrome and unknowns of how the gi tract will behave.. am I crazy for still wanting 3 month interval survillience in the hope the polyps stay low grade wo transforming to high grade? These are fundic gland but adenonatous polyp

the surgeon wants to do surgery on me as soon as possible Jan or feb..

each endoscopy polyps are sampled from different areas and I have carpeting of sessile polyps. Am I nuts for wanting to buy more time. Any opinions?

I go to the fox chase cancer center in Philadelphia for my survillience and the surgical oncologist I see works there as does my newer gi.

what if the clustered polyps never transform to high grade and stay low grade and my stomach gets removed and I could have waited?

thabks for any imput

Gee Len, this is a really tough call. I am sure you have been told numerous times that only you can decide what risks you are willing to live with. I presume your doc has laid out all the potential scenarios and their pitfalls. There really are no “great” choices, I think. FAP is a real dilemma. My opinion does not mean much, because I am not living with FAP. But, if I was I probably would get a second opinion and likely go with the gastrectomy, since it seems like it is in the future anyway.
