About 2 weeks ago I started to weight lift again (with no restrictions), along with that came a change in my diet. Which consist of high protein intake. Within a day or so of me changing the diet, I immediately noticed a change in the frequency and consistency of my bathroom trips. They decreased immensely even though I was eating more frequently. I chalked this up to the protein, as when I had a colon high protein always caused me constipation. Well, along with the constipation came straining during my bathroom trips and just a few days ago I noticed a discomfort right on the inside of my anus (like a burning/ itching sensation that is their all day but definitely more noticeable during a BM).. I'm assuming where my rectum would be if I still had one. Does this sound anything like a anal fissure? And if it is a fissure, what's the treatment for it???

It could be one. If so it sounds pretty mild compared to how people usually describe fissures ("broken glass" seems to come up a lot).

In any case, whether it's a fissure or not, I think the first step is the same... modify your diet to encourage looser stools that are easier to pass. In the meantime, clean yourself very gently and use Sitz baths to soothe the area and promote healing. If it gets worse you can always visit your GI. I had a very mild fissure that resolved by itself by avoiding irritants (seeds, spicy food, etc), wiping more gently, and doing occasional Sitz baths.
