I'm almost five months post take down. Most of those months, I've gotten slowly better, but still had a lot of struggles with gas, hemorrhoids, pain from both, and related urgency. My frequency has been OK, but with the other issues, it's been a difficult ride.

At my check up last week, my doctor OK'd taking Immodium. He wanted to wait until now to let my body adjust on its own, and I think that was a good choice.

Well, one week into the Immodium, and I've each day has been what I'd call almost normal with a colon. A few weeks ago, my frequency was 5-8 times, often very loose stools, pain, anxiety and difficulty making it through the work day.

Now, my frequency is 2-4 times a day. The gas has been reduced dramatically, which has allowed me to eat a wider array of food. This has increased my strength. Today, it's at the end of the day, and I've gone once. Granted, I put that off a little longer than I should've, as there was no pain, and I wanted to give it a go. Going less frequently also helps the anal pain and aggravating the hemorrhoid.

So, do I wait for the other shoe to drop? Is my body just reacting well to the Immodium temporarily, but I'll develop a tolerance and will ultimately return to how I was a few weeks ago?

I'm only taking one Immodium a day. I've tried two on one occasion. I haven't read any issues w/ tolerance and Immodium, but I'm wondering if you all have had any bumps in the road I should look out for.

I'm going to enjoy this, as the last five months have been pretty exhausting. It's not perfect, but I can finally see how it's manageable.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
