Hi Everyone,
I am 24 weeks pregnant and I have had to switch OBs due to insurance issues. The OB I was seeing has performed cesareans on women with jpouch.
The doctor I met with today seemed wonderful, but has not performed a c section on a pouch patient. She has of course performed c sections on women with various degrees of "abdominal surgery"
1) did your OB have jpouch experience?
2) is it very important that they do?

Thank you in advance for your time.
Kate

My OB never delivered a baby from a woman with a j-pouch. She has been in practice for 25 years. My colorectal surgeon was present at the c-section.

I did not have any problems with the c-section, but I did have a illus two days later. I ended up with a NG tube. Was in hospital for 7 days. My baby was released before me.

I don't think it's necessary to find an OB who has done a c-section on a j-poucher. The j-pouch is tucked down inside your pelvis and the uterus and baby are all on top anyway. I had a lot of adhesions from all my previous abdominal surgeries (I've had 2 c-sections also), so the OB had to do some extra work to get out my second! My colo-rectal surgeon was not there and wasn't necessary (he said).

Best wishes! A baby is such a blessing!
