I had J-Pouch surgery back in 2010. After the surgery, I stopped going to my Gastro and only visited the surgeon, who was more familiar with my condition. However, the surgeon was 1.5 hours away so eventually, this became inconvenient and at such time, he referred me to an infectious disease doctor to refill my Cipro and Flagyl meds. Fast forward to now. We moved back in June to Jacksonville and I'm on the fence as to who I should see as my go-to Dr. Do I make an appointment with a Gastroenterologist or an Infectious Disease specialist? The majority of my issues are pouchitis related. Any info would be appreciated.
