Hi Lisa,

I couldn't find the thread in which the linkage between PSC and IBD/autoimmune disorder was discussed. It was posted years ago and I think at the time, old threads that were not active were cleaned out. In any event what PSC is, is an inflammation of the bile ducts.  Jan said that they likely tested you for it already.  Obviously the pancreatic duct issue is something you should stay on top of.  Good luck-

Yes, be sure to post the link to that article if you find it. It can be easy to misinterpret those things sometimes, and an association does not mean causation. Right now, the main risk factors for pancreatic cancer are smoking, family history, and chronic pancreatitis. Having a dilated duct is not the same as having pancreatitis.

Try not to worry prematurely. It won't give you anything but grey hair and a sour stomach. Just do your follow up scans as scheduled. I bet they turn out fine.

Jan,

My grandmother who died of pancreatic cancer did not smoke, have pancreatitis or have any family history of cancer nor did she have autoimmune disorder/IBD.  It was widely speculated within the family that her work experiences in a factory during World War II which manufactured munitions exposed her to carcinogens which caused the cancer.  Both she and a brother who worked in a similar factory which exposed him to assorted carcinogens died of cancers, but their other 4 siblings, my great aunts and uncles, all lived to very ripe old ages. Unfortunately back in those days, workplace safety took a back seat to the war effort. OSHA did not exist during World War II.  What ultimately won World War II to some large extent was the vast economic resources of the USA and Russia/USSR.
