I know this is a little off topic but i had to chuckle at the mental picture of one of us trying to use this thing. The video is queued up to the toilet tour, but if you're interested in space the whole video is worth a watch.

I was glad to see they get wet wipes up there, but sorry - no bidet! Also, what's up with the Russians and their 'coarse' paper preference?

We wouldn't last 2 days!

I would imagine that it would be a nightmare not just for j-pouchers, but for any of the astronauts who might develop a case of space diarrhea. I have to say that this doesn't make me any more enthusiastic about adopting life in zero gravity. On the upside, it doesn't appear that I'd have to go through my daily flat iron process or even comb my hair in space... Smiler

So, after seeing this video, who on this board is willing to take the challenge to officially become the first j-poucher to leave our earthly confines and venture into the final frontier? Smiler

I fear the day when planet earth has to be evacuated. *LOL*
Thank you for posting the video. I always wondered about how things work up there so the tour really fascinated me.
And I love her hair!
Re the Russians' preference for rough toilet paper: I think it means that they were so used to whatever was available in Russia that some people couldn't adapt to new western, democratic tp. You'd think they be glad for something soft but maybe with something so intimate some people didn't want to make changes, which I can understand. They got soviet regulation rough stuff, sort of like crepe paper but even rougher and cheaper, and even that stuff was considered luxury. In airport bathrooms in Moscow and St. Petersburg, people tore newspaper, paper-bag paper and whatever kind of paper they could find. Not meant to scare anyone off about visiting Russia, just put a couple rolls in your suitcase. When I visit any of the former soviet countries like Poland and Czech Republic, I stash the small packs of kleenex everywhere, in all bags and pockets. (That was before the surgery-phase of my life.)

The toilet system up there is very high-tech. I think that if there is to be a first j-poucher in space, they would come with such a high-tech solution to accomodate j-poucher needs.
