I have a jpouch and go to the bathroom many times a day. I always change my tampon after a BM even if stool does not get on the end to make sure I don't get any infections. Should we make sure we change tampons after every BM?

Good question, and I am not sure...
I would think that most women who use tampons don't change at every visit to the WC and that if the string does not get dirty that it shouldn't be a problem...But we are not most women...and we are dealing with different types of output then they are.
I guess that you know your pouch and body best and that if you are worried then don't take the risk. I didn't do it systematically but only whenever I felt that it was important.

Hey, I realize its been a while since you posted, but I never use tampons because of this and because my body often tends to push them part way out with a bm and it just seems ridiculous given the number of times a day I go.
I use them, always have. Yeah they push out at times when I have to empty, but I really hate pads, and extra moisture with my perianal fistula/seton is worse. I just got used to cheaper cardboard ones.
Rachel, I just buy the cheap store brand ones too. In my opinion, they work just as well. Also, having to change them so often, I don't feel so bad about going through so many.
