Hi all,
I just had my take down surgery March 3, 2014. I was prepared for the many bathroom trips, but I was not prepared for how terrible I feel. I do not have any appetite at all, so I am therefore eating very little. I know this is not healthy but if I try to eat more I feel as though I am going to sick. I do not have any energy and spend most of the day on he couch. Is this normal? I eat oatmeal in the morning, then I have rice, pasta or crackers the rest of the day. Any response will be appreciated.

It sounds like you aren't eating any protein at all. People always talk about how minor takedown is compared to the previous surgeries, but it is STILL an invasive surgical procedure, and your body needs protein to heal afterwards. It sounds like you are healing very slowly because your intake is low and what you do eat is only carbohydrates.

Make an effort to eat five small servings of protein every single day. I'm not talking about a steak or anything like that. Plain chicken or fish are great. Eggs prepared any way you like them. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese are also really good protein sources. If it agrees with you, you can add cheese to basically everything to increase your protein and caloric intake.

Even if you don't have an appetite, you need to take protein rich foods like they're medicine right now. They will make you feel better!
