Take down in a couple weeks could use some sucsess stories

I had an awful time with my first surgery; 6 weeks in hospital, terrible obstruction, nausea, and pain... My takedown was an absolute breeze! Other than needing to walk a lot to keep the gas moving, I couldn't believe how easy my adjustment was. I really was expecting the worst but I definitely didn't get it. Since then I've had two other stomas for other issues and each time the reversal has been waaaaay easier than I have expected. My main problem has been trying to do too much too soon!

My experience was similar to GinLyn. I had a real tough time of it with the first step of surgery but takedown was a breeze. I recovered very quickly and within two weeks it was back to life as usual. Good luck!

Thanks all im just a little nervous my second surgery was very hard for the doc it was tough for him to stretch my small bowel to the pouch said the surgery took him 7 hours

After takedown, I started to absorb nutrients/water/salt. I gained 40 lbs, pulse came down from 120 to 60. Happy days!

I am now 10 years post surgeries, 55 years old, finished in the top third of ultramarathoners in Comrades run from Pietermaritzberg to Durban, South Africa (56 miles)!

Takedown should be a breeze. The only complication I had. . .which is actually pretty normal. . .the ostomy site had to heal from the inside out due to an infection.

I think you've made it through the hardest parts. . .this is like having a splinter removed compared to the other surgeries.
