I am 2 1/2 weeks after takedown. Two days ago I noticed some leaking from the incision, but it was clear and nurse said it was normal when I called. Now, no leaking but I feel like the area around the incision is swollen and almost like I can feel the intestine. Rest of my stomach is fairly flat. Its not particularly sore, and I've actually had more bms today than usual. Amy thoughts? Possible hernia or is this somewhat normal? Plan to call surgeons office again tomorrow and my follow up is in 5 days.

If the wound has reopened internally that would probably be called wound dehiscence rather than a hernia - it’s similar but happens sometimes shortly after surgery. I’d suggest calling again and describe what’s going on. They may suggest waiting for your scheduled follow-up.
Thanks @Scott F. It may just be that the rest of the stomach swelling has went down so I notice more, or fluid behind that hasn't drained. I tend to freak out so hopefully its not serious.
I have had to strain some, although I try not to, due to thickness and consistency of stool. So question for you on Metamucil. Will it level out thick stool as well to easier consistency? I used it all the time with ostomy because it thickened up my output nicely. Scared to use it now. I don't use anything else except gas x occassionally.
Metamucil tends to make everything more like the consistency of Metamucil that has “set” - sort of a gel-like structure. Remember that it’s mostly sold to treat constipation. When people report stool that is too thick I tend to suspect inadequate water consumption rather than inadequate psyllium consumption. Stool that’s too hard leads to straining, which leads to all sorts of misery.
Thank you!
