Well last night I had sushi for the first time since I've had my pouch. I was just wondering if anyone has a problem with sushi probably because of the rice blocking you up. I'm used to taking a couple bowel movements in the morning and haven't had one yet. I just hear rumbling in my intestines and a little pain on my left side. I wasnt sure the outcome of eating so much sushi but I was willing to take the risk because man I love sushi and it was every bit worth it. Please let me know if youve had any problems or a reason why I might not have had a bowel movement yet. Thanks guys.

I've have no problems with sushi. In fact, it's my favourite food and I eat it quite often. I actually like the rice component because it helps to bulk things up for me.
That being said, since you seem to be in some discomfort today, you do have to be careful of the raw veggies. Also, if you "overindulged" last night and are only a few months post takedown and are used to a more liquid stool, the bulk might be a bit much for your system to handle all at once. Also, any "new" food post takedown should be introduced gradually. Since you are already in somewhat of a predicament, you can try sipping grape or prune juice, walking, warm baths, and gently massaging your abdomen to help promote a BM. And remember that no food is worth the misery of a partial blockage, so go easy on the volume.

Yeah I hear ya I was just so excited that I definitely overindulged ha. I'm gonna try and keep things moving today with citrucel and a lot of fluids. I also noticed chocolate usually cleans me out pretty well so I'll try some different things today and let you know my status later on. Thanks for the quick response.
If you think that you're experiencing a partial blockage, Citrucel probably isn't the best thing. But the fluids are. And moving around as much as possible.

Yeah I've been done drinking Citucel with a lot more fluids than normal to get the steady flow back. I don't think I have a blockage it was just a matter of sitting on the toilet for a little and letting gravity take its course. Things seem fine now thanks.
I love sushi! I go to an all you can eat, off the menu place that makes them to order and I indulge...then go home and drink a glass of prune juice to get things back on track.

Sushi is alright with me, but I generally eat sashimi, which is just the fish. Maybe go that route next time, if you like that kind of sushi. I prefer it over rolls or nigiri.
I love my sushi as well! I prefer nigiri where its just fish and vinegar rice, so good and now I'm craving it lol.
Not much of a fan of sushimi. May sound weird but I'm not into big slabs of raw fish I'm more of a sushi roll type of guy. Before I got my surgery I was able to put down 40-50 rolls. The Japanese people looked at me like I was crazy. They definitely don't make out off of me with a $20 all you can eat special ha ha. I was only able to knock out 30 this time. My favorite is eel rolls or dragon rolls and I know from my UC days to substitute the cucumber for avocado. Its was nice to get out of the house and do something different with friends because I've been stuck in the house with mybwofe and kids driving me nuts ha ha. I stole my wife's leftover hibachi I brought home for her last night which was also delicious. Its nice to eat things and not have to worry about those terrible flare ups. I'll take a little butt burn her and there I'm exchange.
30 rolls!!! good god man, I'm full after 6-7 pieces of Nigiri or 8 - 9 sashimi!
Ha ha I told you I love Sushi. It definitely kept me bound up for a night and half a day.
I've never tried sushi because 1. I got my pouch before learning about the awesomeness of sushi and 2. I was scared off of sushi because of my pouch. After several years with the pouch, I feel like I have a really good handle on what I can handle and after reading the positive reports in this forum, I am ready for sushi and I can't wait! So, this is not a pouch related question, but a general question for the sushi lovers: where does a sushi beginner start? What are good things to order (not too crazy/spicy but a good representation of sushi)? I don't want to embarrass myself in a restaurant. Thank you!
I would start with basic maki rolls that only have one or two ingredients each, so that you can taste things individually and figure out what you like. Tuna, salmon, and yellowtail are mild fishes that most people enjoy. Tamago is a special egg sushi (no fish) that is really tasty as well. Most sushi places have a variety plate or a 'dinner special' where you can get a little bit of everything -- then you'll know for next time what you like best
