I prefer liquidy stools. Having said this, I recently remembered a coloned-friend telling me this time of the year was the worst for her because of the severe constipation she experiences daily as a result of eating so much matzo......took the spelling off the box. Yes, I was curious so I bought some. Really good stuff like the kind of water cracker I eat all the time, only much larger! I bought the plain rather than egg variety. Only ingredients listed are wheat flour and water. Well, after eating two "sheets" of matzo my b.m., as a result, was actually formed and tubular! I haven't seen a tubular, formed b.m. for over 15 years! Wonder if you can buy this product after the Passover holiday. I could only find it in a 5 pound packaged box of five one pound boxes......for $2.99!!!!! Imported from Israel! Of course, I'm gaining some weight....yuck....because I love this stuff and want it several times a day. Stopped eating bread. Anyone else experience this?

I am Jewish and was raised eating Matzo for Passover , and yes you can buy it all year long just at Passover they have the "kosher for Passover " seal on them that we have to buy this time of year. I have bought mine but hadn't eaten any yet but now think I will. Enjoy it with jelly, butter or for sandwich use which we do for 8 days.
My mother is Jewish and from Israel, and growing up I remember there were always matzos in the house. I personally never cared much for them. My mother dunked them in her coffee. My father, who is Catholic, never touched them. Because my mother's family is in Israel and my father's family is in the USA, we always celebrated Easter, although I remember one year we did both a passover traditional meal and the usual Easter traditional meal we have. Which in the case of the Eastern European Catholics means that the food has to be taken to Church and blessed before it can be eaten. As a kid my hand would be slapped if I tried to steal a piece of the unblessed food.

I had read elsewhere that matzos help thicken the stool. Essentially if you chew them carefully you're putting matzo meal in your gut, which is then forming matzo balls that you can poop out.

Matzos are sold year round. If you go to a supermarket in an area where there is a large Jewish population, you will see many more varieties of Manischewitz matzos than what has been described in this thread.
