Anyone have experience with a surgical dilation? I am 4 and a half months post takedown and have had nightly incontinence, poop my pants. After delays due to a bout of c dif. They had to finger dilate me to get the scope in to check the pouch. Pouch was fine other than the stricture. But finger dilation twice hasn't helped. One last round of flagyl to make sure no pouchitis and my surgeon is recommending day surgery dilation. Please let me know how it worked if you had a surgical dilation.
Thanks,
Paul

I have been deing with this for months. Getting scoped tomorrow And probably balloon dIlation. My stricture is so narrow I can barely insert a suppository. I have been recommended for pouch Advancement surgery and have been fighting it. Ill report findings tomorrow. I am nervous about this as I Also have chronic cuffitis.
I had a surgical dilation last week that Dr Remzi the surgeon who deals with pouches, did at Cleveland Clinic, it was much tougher than the prior 2 I had with Dr Shen there. I haven't seen any improvement but then maybe things would have been worse without them. They said I should do them every 3 months so I am doing back to Dr Shen even though Dr Remzi, the surgeon, said his can stretch things out more than Dr Shen's.
Why are they removing your pouch? They may be able to advance your pouch and hand sew it after they remove the stricture. I have a very stubborn stricture and no one has talked about removing my pouch and giving me a permanent ostomy, at least not yet. They have discussed pouch advancement surgery though due to my stricture which is what I described above.

How bad are your symptoms? I have found rectal medication and cipro can also help improve function especially if you have inflammation at the connection also.

I have never had a balloon dilation at this time. My GI who is in contact with Bo Shen has told me they may be able to do a needle knife procedure and Bo Shen is the only one who does this (in leu of pouch advancement surgery).
