Hi Kenny,
My wife had her pouch removed and then re-made in February of this year. She actually had 3 surgeries, the first of which was to create a temp-ileostomy. First surgery was short and she woke up in some pain but immediate relief from a long year of horrible discomfort.
The second surgery was to remove the dysfunctional j-pouch, create a new j-pouch and create and new temp-ileostomy. This surgery was very long 6.5 hours, but was performed entirely laproscopically. The recovery was a little bit easier than her total colectomy several years ago, but it was a major recovery process. I believe she spent 5 nights in the hospital.
Hope this helps, and good luck to you. Assuming you have been dealing with major problems for a long time, you should look forward to significant relief very quickly after surgery.
Dan
