Surgery on Monday

I was in the hospital about a week and that was with no complications. I believe the estimated time of the surgery was about 4-5 hours (?) but mine was only about 3. Not sure what you mean about how long it takes to start working. I was emptying my new bag while in the hospital.

I encourage you to soend some time reading other posts on this site. So many of us have had positive outcomes that you might feel reassured after reading about our experiences.

I also listened to a healing meditation CD leading up to my surgery and then got permission to have it playing while I was in surgery. I can't say for sure whether it was beneficial, but I believe it was. I continue to listen to meditation CDs about weekly and find them to be quite calming and "centering." There are many good ones on the market and it hinges largely on personal preference. I used Peggy Huddleston's and Belleruth Naparstek's.

Thanks for info ,had the jpouch removed ,and my anus stitched up also,a cople,of other things removed , I was in theatre 8 hours ,recoveryn5 hours and in high dependancy unit for 3 days then back to a normal ward ,everything went well and I came home on my 8th day ,it was a big operation but so worth it I'm on day 10 now and im at home resting ,yes I'm sore on anus area but nothing awful my wound has been checked today by district nurse and says its so clean and healing so well she can't believe it ,my abdomen wound is almost healed I had no sutures it was glued it amazing .imdo have ten sutures around anus area which are being removed on day 14 .dont be afraid you will be fine and my thoughts will be with you .all the very best KEN

Kenny, great to hear that all went well. I'm in the "anticipation of surgery" stage and getting nervous, so to hear from you is reassuring. Continue to heal well.
