I have been taking metamucil with sugar for a few weeks now and what a difference. I am 2 months since takedown and go 4-6 times a day, because of the metamucil. It's a little pricey, but I guess who cares. I was in Costco today and bought the Kirkland brand. Will I have the same success? I know it has the same active ingredient. And, the metamucil I have, has sugar, the kirkland brand does not. Does that matter?

BTW, for all you metamucil lovers out there, it is on sale at Costco starting tomorrow, $6 off Big Grin

There are three kinds of psyllium husk without sugar: artificially sweetened, capsules, and unflavored/unsweetened (commonly available under the Konsyl brand). You may find one more palatable than the other. If you're trying to avoid sugar (and other carbs), the sugar-sweetened one may be a problem for you.

I recently tried the CVS store-brand sugar-sweetened psyllium. It's much more difficult to mix up than the Metamucil brand. I won't be buying it again.

Thanks for the tip on the sale at Costco! Smiler I use the same kind you do and have not tried the others yet, except for the smooth vs. the original coarse. I did not do as well with the smooth. Can I ask how you take the Metamucil? Do you take some before every meal and how much? I still have my loop ileo and have been trying to experiment before takedown, but have not had a lot of advice from the doctors in this area. I will be interested to hear if the non-brand name works as well for you! May be switching as well...every penny counts!
