Is there anybody with crohns who has had a subtotal colectomy/ileostomy and than had a reanastomosis of the ileum and remaining colon. My 15 year old son may undergo this procedure in the summer and I wanted to know of anyone's experience. They thought he originally had ulcerative colitis last year. He was unresponsive to medications at that time and had the subtotal colectomy and ileostomy with the intent of creating a J pouch later. He has subsequently been diagnosed with crohns and is on entyvio. He seems to be responding to the entyvio. The doctors have said if he is clear in the summer, they may reconnect the ileum and remaining colon. He currently has about 8 inches of colon left. Any response would be appreciated.
