Hi, I am taking steroids for cuffitis. Foam 2mg.- enema. And the medicine against gastric acid, pantoprazole 40 mg. starting about 4 weeks ago. I have a strong urge to pass stool, watery stool. Without pain and cramps. Does anyone have an idea if these two drugs can cause diarrhea? According to the description of side effects, it can. If anyone has experience or advice, many thanks!

If you were fine on pantoprazole for 4 weeks and only then developed urgency and watery stools then I'd guess it's not the most likely cause, though it's possible. You could try changing acid reducing medication to see if things improve. Have you ever had these symptoms before? Has anything else changed? For me urgency usually signals pouchitis - is that possible, do you think? The rectal steroid makes pouchitis less likely, though.

Now I remembered, 4 years ago I had green stools and similar symptoms and I had Ciptosporidium and Entamoeba hystoliticia parasites. Green stool that apparently passes quickly like now, without smell. I read that it passes spontaneously, I don't remember if I took any therapy for them then. I generally go with the hypothesis that Mazda's lack of gastric acid helped in several infections.

This certainly could be a GI infection (viral, bacterial, or parasitic), particularly if you are exposed to questionable food or water. While some GI infections do clear up on their own it’s much wiser (if it persists) to find out what you’ve got and treat it, when appropriate. Some of them don’t clear up without treatment, and some of them can cause significant complications.
