Does anyone get pouchitis when your stress levels go up? Seems my spouse and I haven't been seeing eye to eye for awhile, and during those times, I end up on Cipro. Coincidence?

Hello,
I do believe pouchitis can be stress related. Many times when I’m stressed about work, family, or other life issues I find myself not feeling well.
I started Entyvio earlier this year and have not had pouchitis since. Fingers crossed!
All the best to you
Thank you. All the best to you, too!
Do you find Entyvio works better than Cipro or Flagyl? These 2 help, but not as well as I would like sometimes.
I feel like my system is weak in a particular way due the pouch and that stress makes that worse. Lately it has been the hemorrhoids, internal and external, and upper GI irritation. My job lately has been to figure out how to make that area stress-proof! Still working on it. I have been using stress reduction techniques like yoga, meditation, cardio exercise, dietary modifications, and limiting caffeine. They're good, but it seems that's not enough! Also, I'm not consistent with them because life gets in the way.
When I had Active UC, stress made it completely worse!!! I definitely believe Stress makes anything worse especially the Digestive system.
If I were you, I would try stress decreasing activities. Napping helps me relax and listening to orchestra and classical music. And getting massages especially.
You have to do what works for you
ChelleC I am happy with my results from Entyvio. I did just have a Dilation under anesthesia which has helped tremendously. Maybe the two together has given me great relief. As of this moment I’m happy with the ways things are going.

Lauren, I agree that active UC is made worse, if not partially caused, by stress. I guess it would make sense then that it would make pouchitis worse. I'm going to have to find ways to decrease my stress. I did just have a massage a couple days ago which was amazing. I'll have to treat myself more often!

I'm so happy, Mrs P, that things are going well for you. I have Cipro right now. If it doesn't clear things up, I will definitely ask my dr what she thinks of Entyvio. Thanks for the info!

Yeah definitely agreed!!! I went on a walk tonight and it was pretty relaxing! Maybe walking can help you too! And exercise in general!
