Hi all, second takedown was three weeks ago. Did very well and left hospital doing great. Next day back at hospital with a fever, was not surgery related but I had a upper respiratory something as my wbc was elevated so I was put on amoxicillin for a week. Still doing great and upper respiratory cleared. Two days later this stomach bug, I hope that's what it is, hit. This is embrassing as I have had my pouch 15 years, but never had anything hit so hard. Literally dripping out of me. Sharp pains. Finally went to hospital to get hydrated and test for c diff which was negative. My daughter and son in law and his brother have it as well so we are assuming that is what it is and where I caught it. Merry Christmas, ho ho ho! Of course my GI office is closed till Monday, I went to the local ER. Anyway, it seem better yesterday but I still am off, lots of gas, watery stools, still lots more bathroom trips, lots of intestinal noise.

So my question is how do I get my pouch up and running again after getting hit with whatever.  All these years I've been on UC meds and antibiotics to keep everything in check. I'm only on Entyvio now and three weeks ago the pouch looked good that's why I was able to have second takedown.

Do I take lmmodium, pepto, metimucil? Something else?

How long does it take after a flu before your system quiets down again?

Im eating a BRAT diet.

Thanks

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.    And, I will always recommend Metamicil... it helps to bulk things up a bit.  The brat diet is also great.  Finally, it just takes a little time.  I've had those stomach bugs several times with my pouch, and within a week, it's usually back to normal.  Hope you're feeling better soon.
