Wondering if people still get stomach aches even when disease seems to be in remission - i.e. labs are normal and there is no inflammation and bms are same as usual? Also, do people still get bad stomach aches? Thanks, I appreciate.

Jeffrey always did. The disease is always there and the inflammation never stops, mat least in Jeffrey's case.
If I delay going to the bathroom, or I'm gassy, I can get significant gas pain, though it passes within less than a minute. I don't mind it much, since it reminds me that I'm not a slave to the toilet, and can ignore it if I choose.
It can be tricky to run down the causes of pain, but I find it easier to deal with when I understand it. "Inflammation" isn't (for me) a satisfying explanation. It just raises more questions that are worth trying to answer. IMO a healthy gut doesn't generally hurt.
To me, "stomach ache" is a very vague term. But, abdominal pain is quite varied in quality and degree. If I am having sharp, severe pain, then something is really wrong, like a partial obstruction or serious pouchitis. Or, maybe even an upper GI problem. Mild cramps and rumbles usually mean dietary issues or delaying a bowel movement (gas wanting out). IBS causes significant symptoms and there is no inflammation.
Anyway, you cannot assume every belly ache is a relapse and a calm belly is remission. I thought I was doing pretty good and still had severe pouchitis.

Agree.
Now that everything I had that was causing problems is gone... what I called stomach aches were not. But was my colon or pouch. I know that now that they are gone because I have no stress in my abdominal area for the first time in decades. DECADES!
And.... I want to say it is wonderful. I didn't know a person's middle area could be so relaxed and stress free.
