Quick question regarding caring for where my stoma wound is healing.
I have been putting gauze over it but noticed now that as it heals the gauze is starting to stick/dry to parts of the wound. Is it okay to use a thin layer of Vaseline on the gauze to prevent this? Or are there better options? I feel like it should be pretty much healed in a couple weeks.

I had my takedown 5 months ago and was told to not put anything on it but gauze if there was any leakage. I used the gauze for about a week and then stopped using it. It took longer than a couple weeks to heal, but it was fine after 4 or 5 weeks. Hope this helps you.
There are non-stick gauze dressings available - one brand is Telfa.
I had a spot that wouldn't heal. Dr. cauterized and it healed properly. Stopped 'leaking' right away.
Same thing happened to me too, I just kept doing gauze and saline to be honest. If it aint broke no need to fix it. I am almost 7 years out and my scar is fine.
@dlewicki My surgeon taught me and he just used saline when it would dry or start to stick.
