To add to that, even though colectomy "cures" the colitis, you still have the history of UC and all the potential associated risks of having the disease (other than colitis). So that means, from an underwriting point of view, that you are at an increased risk of actually filing a claim. That is what they are really concerned with. It is sort of like having a cancer diagnosis following you forever, even though you are cured.

Thanks everyone for your reply, I have asked countless times on the phone and via email for the travel agent to confirm back that I am covered for UC but they're a hopeless case, so have settled for adhesions/bowel blockage which they have confirmed in writing, so I hope its going to be OK. I really can't understand what is so hard to understand, I only wanted it confirmed that UC was the original condition, they must be dense!!
