thought i would update since dec15th still antibiotic free and continuing my diet of elimination of all starchy carbs, all wheat, all rice, all potatoes all and avoid process foods corn ,simple sugar(outside of my yoghurt, fruit and natural in veggies.. )and avoid processed foods that have ingredient i can not read!!!

its wonderful to be not taking antibiotics on a daily basis as i did for 7 years..however,i still have pouch issues i would love to better if possible..i think various foods (maybe many) contribute to these other issues that can be annoying, painful, inconvenient etc..so i have begun trying to limit my veggies and test them one by one..thus i have eaten carrots and string beans all last week with my other allowable foods..we will see how successful i will be to figure out and if i discover any differences or improvements and if so will report and share in hopes it helps someone else..
..thats my first go around since the diet that got me off antibiotics ..which was a buggy for me...will keep everyone updated...

Rebe,
I sent a PM but am not sure I did it correctly. I have read Elaine's book 2x and started the intro diet and have spent about 20 hours reading 4 other books I ordered from SCD lifestyle and listening to podcasts and ordering food from around the country.
I can send you or anyone else the ebooks. The diet initially helped but I was out of the country and could only do the regular diet and now have had to start from stratch on the intro diet. I would love to talk with you and share all this info I have and get your feedback. Could you please email me at cgouldmeyer@aol.com, thanks.
Also if anyone else wants info on this diet and the supporting books please let me know and I will send to you.
I am counting on this solving my SIBO, pouchitis, 2 cipro a day and 12+ bathroom trips a day.
allykat thanks..clearly i have had some luck with diet of elimination as to needing antibiotics but as further update about once a week it seems i have one terrible night of being up going so many times though early morning hours and than its back to a more even keeled existence..not sure what it is but my guess is i either eat too much of something(even if normally exceptible)or just combo of things..what makes me think its something of that sort is because it lasts a day than goes away..but figuring out what i am doing is no easy trick..so far i suspect too much almond four products or almond butter etc might be a culprit..with my elimination of all starchy carbs i think i tend to overeat other things..i seriously think veggies in any large amount do me in too..

hey, not complaining as i have made some good strides with diet but just saying its always challenging with not so perfect pouch set up.and i know you would love to be where i am and wish you were too..please con side going to cleveland see shen and his conferring surgeons..
Rebe, look into resistant starches. I am now added that to my diet and the paleo community r talking about it as well. Also, fermented foods.
Ps When my pouch is working fine I have the same issue with a terrible night. I think for me I need more fiber. Fish does it too. But because of adhesions I have to be real careful. Can't even take half Imodium without blocking up.
Rebe,
Thanks so much for your comments. I have spent so much time on this diet and cooking, something I don't normally do, and since you are our hero, having had results with this it would mean so much to me to speak to you. I tried for a consultation with the 2 guys who run scdlifestyle.com and said I would paid any price but never heard back. Could you please email me or give me your email, my number is 513.561.0816 cgouldmeyer@aol.com,
Thank so much.

Rebe, I really wish I could keep up with this kind of diet, but it's so difficult. I know for a fact that my pouchitis can be controlled by reduction of simple sugars from experience, but it's so tough to maintain total elimination. My pouch tolerates very little fresh veggies, fruits, etc. So eliminating breads, rice, potatoes along with only eating minimal fiber, doesn't leave me with much to eat. Plus, I have a really high metabolism. Cutting out breads and carbs, I'm really worried I will start losing weight. For now, back on Flagyl enjoying eating anything and everything, but I need to pursue a better long term option.
Rebe,
Where do you purchase your almond flour? You have to be careful with that stuff because nuts can go rancid. I used to buy nuts in bulk at Sam's Club and make my own flour, but got sick every time. If you notice, much of their stuff is old, which is probably why it's so cheap.
Do you keep your flour in the fridge or freezer to keep it from going rancid?
Maybe try cutting the almond flour out for a day or two to see if that helps. Then at least you'll know.

That figures! It couldn't be that easy...lol Well it was worth a shot. I hope you find what's bugging you.

Just thought of something. My daughter belongs to a gym called US Swim and Fitness. She was having trouble losing weight no matter what she did and someone suggested she take this blood test that they do at the gym that would tell her what food allergies she has. Supposedly you can have these allergies and not know it, and it interferes with losing weight. I wonder if a test like that could help you figure out what foods are giving your pouch a problem. I hear it's expensive but I don't know how much it costs. Do you think that would be worth looking into?
