All seems well with output from my K-pouch. However, last few times - my output is very sticky. And no, I have not been eating glue! I am using same lube as always. Diet is normal. Just this yellowish, sticky stuff. Makes cleaning the cath a bit difficult too. Anyone ever get this? Thanks.

Bodoni,
Certain fats will do that to me. Cheeses, lamb chops, pizzas, cheese cake,...anything that has very high fat or if you take Alli the fat capturing drug will do it too. It seperates the fat molecules and encapsulates them so that they don't fix in with the stool.
Is it orangish or yellowish in colour (tmi?)...that is usually the colour of the fat.
Just try a light or fat free diet for a few days to see if it has an effect on it.
There is also something to do with the pancreas or liver that I am unclear on but I am sure that someone who knows more will weigh in on that.
Hope that you are doing well.
Sharon
Thanks Sharon,
You may be right. I do eat a lot of cheese. And I do take a med for Cholesterol. I suppose you could say that is a fat capturing drug.
That's it...makes a thick, sticky paste that sticks to the inside of the tube (and the toilet bowl) and is nearly impossible to clear out.
2 choices, stop taking the med or stop eating cheese!
