I'm 3 months into my new life with a J-pouch and VERY happy with my decision to have the surgery. I'm wondering about playing sports with a J-pouch. I'm thinking of joining an adult ice hockey league and I'm concerned that it may be too soon to take on such an intense workout. I'm worried that the skating/shooting/twisting of my torso may have a negative affect on my incision sites or the pouch it's self? Is anyone else in a similar situation? Have any thoughts?

MJP,
Depending on your basic health, your ability to heal and resistance you should maybe do a month or build-up first...you need to get those abs to strengthen up so that they can protect you...you might want to give yourself a 6week goal to join the team, work out slowly at first then once your strenth and stamina are back...go for it but protect those abs.

Hey I'm just a little over three months past my final op'. And have just started back playing soccer. The only problems I have is when to eat beforehand. As gas and the need to go to the toilet kick in sometimes while playing (as a full game takes 90minutes) it can get really uncomfortable. I've tried eating three hours before hand (to give the food time to transit, works sometimes) and half an hour before hand. (Same thing) now I'm trying different foods to see how the affect is. If you come up with any solutions it would be great to here from you, and if I figure something out I will share as soon as I can. Cheers Blair
