I can't get through a night without anywhere from 3-7 poops! My sleep is so broken and it is so frustrating. Immodium does not work for me - I am wondering if there is a product or trick that I have not tried that might make a difference. I try to slow down food intake later in the day. I even end up in the bathtub due to butt burn - running the tub at 2 AM stinks! I use Calmoseptine, but after numerous bathroom trips, only the tub feels good. Ughhh! Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Smiler

If you do not have cuffitis or pouchitis (if you haven't been checked for those, you should) try cutting back on carbs, or avoiding them altogether for awhile. You might also try adding probiotics to your regimine.

Also - look into bidets! A thorough cleansing after such frequent BMs can help you avoid the burn.
I have been up at least 4-5 times a night for almost 20 years. I know it is terrible but I sort of get used to it. I have tried herbal sleep aids, they help some, a bit of powdered fiber, that helps some. I do a very hot bath every night for the but burn so yes I know about that. Have you tried a pad. Your calmoseptine is the best so keep that up. Oh yes one thing did help some peptobismol, i do that 4times a day, a suggestion on this site.
I am joining your post.I have not had a nights sleep in a long time.If I do I know something is wrong.I was told I would defecate up to 10 times daily.
I have been in hyperthyroidism (Thyroid patient also ) and this is also a contributing fsctor for me,
My endo is trying to slow my metabolism down a little.
I have read that we folks over or in our 50s do have more movements at night.
I nnow tend to go to sleep earlier just to try to have more hours of rest.

For those of frequent night BMs - try to have hope.

For about 10 years I was up 4-8 times/night, and many of those were accidents. Finally found what works for me, perhaps you can try: in addition to having my pouchitis/cuffitis and fistula treated, I take 1 pepto/day, 1 iflora probiotic and 1 immodium before bed, and eat Specific Carbohydrate Diet yogurt twice/day (it's homemade). I've cut WAY back on sugar/carbs, and do not use artificial sweetener other than stevia - this last one seems particularly important in my case.

I so feel for those of you with this problem, but please do not feel that it is hopeless - keep trying different things, and get cuffitis/pouchitis ruled out.
