In the past I've had Pouchitis several times a year this last bout with it has been a new one. I've had my J pouch for 10 years now and have had a number of issues with it. This starts last December 20th. I was having a low grade fever and all the tells of Pouchitis. My doctor normally has a script of antibiotics on hand for me at my local pharmacy. I called it in and started my regiment. Which was Metronidazol 500mg 1 tablet twice a day and Ciprofloxacn 500mg tablet twice a day and then I'd be right as rain. However after this course I felt normal for the first week. Then the symptoms slowly returned. After a gradual build up to Pouchitis symptoms again, I began to run a fever 5 days ago low grade at first. I thought maybe I didn't get all of the pouchitis. So I called my doctor again to have him send in another round of antibiotics. My fever spiked to 102.7 the night (Jan 23, 2014) I started the antibiotics. This was a first for me and very unnerving. We went to an Urgent Care place at about 7pm that night, I was thinking it might be something more serious. I told the doctor everything that had been going from Dec 20, 2013. They started blood cultures, and a battery of blood tests along with setting up a fecal test. Along with that he wanted to give me a shot of Rocephin 2ml antibiotic or admit me to my local hospital. Not wanting to stay the night in the hospital I took the shot. By morning my fever was gone. Most of my symptoms were gone too. I was passing very little stool and gas most of the day, but I wasn't in too much pain the Friday of Jan 24, 2014. Saturday was a lot better, yet still very little produced. It's now Sunday. Since I was first diagnosed with UC back in 1997 this is the longest I've gone between Passing a signification amount of stool. I'm pretty worried about whats going on down there. I hear movement of gas and stool in the small intestine. I'm not feeling any discomfort or pain, Which is highly concerning because its a normal thing. I don't have a loss in appetite. Though I'm afraid to push more down that way. If nothing starts to produce by the end of day I'm think of self administered enema as a last effort. Anyone have any thoughts on why my systems seems to completely slowed to crawl in this way?

Do you have any current symptoms other than no bowel movements? I can't see any benefit from an enema. You were on three potent antibiotics, and that can have a substantial effect on stool. IMO as long as you're drinking plenty of water I wouldn't worry much unless you have discomfort. The fever seems a bit higher than I'm accustomed to, but perhaps others can comment on whether 102.7 seems like more than pouchitis.

Two antibiotics at once is more commonly suggested for antibiotic resistant pouchitis. Most of us treat pouchitis with a single antibiotic at a time.

At the moment no I don't have any other systems. I'm urinating regularly although its kind of dark. I'm hungry, yet very reluctant to eat very much. I'd say in the last 16 hours I've used the restroom once that produced little stool. This is a stark contrast to what normally is going. As for the two antibiotics at a time my doctor started the extra Ciprofloxacn last year.

Thank you for your reply Scott

If your urine is dark you are (IMO) too dry. I'd bump up the water intake, perhaps substantially. Bacteria are a huge fraction of stool volume, and you've pretty much wiped that out. You're worried about eating, so food residue is gone. There's not much left to poop. I can't guarantee that you don't have a blockage, but it just seems unlikely without discomfort.

I have been eating. Though my intake definately isn't matching my output. I've had 3 meals probably about 7oz each. I've been drinking about 48 oz of water a day. It doesn't seem blocked to me either. I just seems like my system went to sleep. Like after a surgery how my system isn't awake or its just very slow.

If you still have an appetite and no discomfort, darker urine, and haven't passed stool in awhile, you are probably just constipated/backed up from the antibiotics and not enough fluids. This happened to me last month after being on Flagyl and I was easily going 12 hours without a BM. I was like this for a few days. Drink some grape juice, keep up with lots of fluids, and you may need to try to push a little harder than you are used to. Don't strain or that can cause problems, but if you are used to runnier stools like I am, it just took a bit more effort to get things out.
