I've had a cold for nearly 4 weeks that I just haven't been able to kick, so I finally went to the doctor yesterday. Yup, I have acute rhinosinusitis. I was prescribed Flonase which is helping a bit , and because of my history, the doctor did some quick bloodwork as well. I just got those results back and the white cell count is elevated which is indicative of a bacterial infection - so likely bacterial sinusitis. If there is no significant improvement with Flonase tomorrow, then I will have to do a round of antibiotics.
Basically, antibiotics screw me up digestively for weeks. I had a really rough go of things when I last had to take them non-pouch related issue about 4 years ago. Question - anybody have experience dealing with sinusitis without going the antibiotic route? Just wondering if this is an absolutely necessity. Obviously I don't want to play around with a potential sinus infection, but if I'm going to take the antibiotic plunge and have diarrhea for weeks I am not going to do it trivially.
